This woman is a living legend; she has given birth to the most children in the world

ART and NATURE

A straightforward African woman is the hero of this story. When she was 12 years old, she got married. The first birth occurred a year later.

Additionally, she had 44 children in just 20 years. At the same time, the family lived in absolute poverty; food, clothing, and education for the children did not arrive until the entire world learned about her criminal record.

Uganda is where they live. 35 million people live in this East African nation. For decades, it has been consistently ranked among the poorest countries in the world.

The United Nations estimates that nearly 40% of Ugandans live on less than $1.25 per day. Mariam Nabatanzi Babiri is the name of our protagonist.

In 1981, she was born into a large but extremely impoverished family. Mariam wed a 40-year-old widower from a nearby village in 1993.

The couple lived in the same village. That children like her had to endure all of that simply because of their families’ financial circumstances is a very sad fact.

The 13-year-old girl had twins a year after getting married. The second birth also had multiples. Mariam gave birth to 15 children, including six pairs of twins, four triplets, and five groups of quadruplets.

44 children total. Twenty boys and eighteen girls out of these survived infancy, and the most recent reports from journalists indicate that they are all healthy.

The woman was told by doctors that she had a rare genetic condition that probably comes from her family. Any pregnancy resulted in multiple births.

She was forbidden to use contraceptives. I had to give birth just now. In addition, the family lived in extremely congested conditions.

He was a wealthy husband in the past, but he could no longer feed so many children. Mariam asked the local doctors to perform a sterilization procedure, but they declined.

It was fortunate for the woman that her case was published in a single scientific journal. A singular mother piqued the interest of doctors all over the world.

Mariam was finally operated on by a group of British doctors at the age of 36, shortly after another birth. She never conceived again. She is a single mother of one at the age of 41.

In 2016, the overgrown husband escaped, leaving his wife and children with a run-down house and a crumbling household. None of his children ever hear from him.

Mariam benefited from the attention of Western doctors and later journalists. The government began providing financial support and allotted land for the new house’s construction.

The kids had the chance to learn, and they even got a professional education. Mariam, or “Mama Uganda,” as she is now known, and the majority of her children still live in their village, according to reports in 2019.

Their living conditions are better. Before, everyone slept on a filthy clay floor; now, there is enough room in the beds for everyone.

A unique family receives 25 kg of cornmeal, beans, and sugar daily from the government. In the modern world, not a single woman even comes close to comparing to Mariam.

Four mothers from Italy, the United States, Argentina, and Brazil, who each gave birth to 32 children, come in second place on the list of “record holders.”
