In Ireland, a donkey rescued from a flood seems to be smiling when taken to a safe place

A donkey who drowned in floods last Sunday and is recovering after a rowing club member rescued him in Ireland. The woman posted a post on her Animal Heaven Animal Rescue (AHAR) Facebook page asking for help, writing:

On Saturday night, the animal escaped from its stable in Killorglin, Kerry after bad weather damaged the gate.

The donkey was found stuck in the field the next morning, surrounded by deep rainwater, after a nearby river overflowed its banks.

Killorglin Rowing Club member Mike Fleming found that he and a group of animal shelter rescuers were able to get help from a rope-floating donkey before bringing it ashore.

Animal Heaven Animal Rescue spokesman said the donkey, named Mike after his rescuer, was recovering in an animal shelter while his stable was being repaired.

Asylum founder Susan Gibbons says: She is now towel-dried, she eats hot puree, everything is comfortable, she’s hot, our veterinarian has seen her, she has started antibiotics to prevent pneumonia.

He has some fluid in one of his lungs, but our veterinarian said he would recover.

THANK YOU very much to all those who help needy animals

Love donkeys. He smiles…
