US Navy, headquarters Andrew Morales rescues two dogs in Afghanistan and manages to send them to San Diego. But when he was about to move to Camp Lejo, NS, it became very real that he might not be able to bring back his two Anatolian Shepherds.
Dustin Wyatt experienced bad things in Afghanistan. Their ears and tails were cut off because of the fight, but the two brothers remained together. Staff Sgt. Andrew Morales established a strong bond with the dogs, he just could not leave them.
So when he got his new appointment, he was not going to leave the dogs now. But that was the situation he and his wife faced, as the airline said the dogs were too big for commercial aircraft landing in Lezhe.
They contacted an organization that helped organize Dasti Wyatt’s flight from Afghanistan to California. The group posted an online request for help, and it caught the eye of someone who could do something about it: Helen Rosburg, heir to Wrigley Gum’s granddaughter, William Rigley.
He drew a private plane for the Marine and his family. Helen, who is an animal lover, is a showman of horses, raising German shepherds to serve as service dogs, for personal protection, for law enforcement.
He swore not to allow the staff to Andrew Morales lose his dogs. “Not on my watch,” he said. “Everyone around me knows what I’m doing. “If they see an impossible situation, they will put something in my (Facebook) schedule.”
“From the bottom of my heart my wife appreciates what she has done for us,” Morales said.
