Rufus is a 5-year-old doggie who was recenlty reunited with his family. He had spent nearly a year alone on the streets of Santa Fe, unable to see his family.
The thing is that the dog is completely deaf and ran away from his home in September of last year. After that, a whole community searched for him non-stop.
Of course, many were afraid that something had happened to him and that they would not find him. They had been living in the area for a month when the dog disappeared.
However, to everyone’s surprise, Rufus was noticed one day and kind people sent his picture to his owner.
A group specializing in rehoming lost pets was working day and night to find him.
They worked non-stop for almost a year to bring Rufus home. The fact is that the sweet dog was given to Marisa Martinez after the death of her daughter, who was nine years old when she died of cancer.
It was certainly a devastating blow for the whole family. Then Rufus appeared in their lives. He seemed to bring peace with him, a job he excelled at.
They were just perfect together, Rufus with special needs and his human mother, a special education teacher. They got along great and she even taught him to communicate in sign language.
Therefore, the loss of the dog was simply unbearable and the family searched for him for months, never giving up hope of finding him.
And when Rufus reappeared, it was a real miracle.
When the family was finally reunited with their beloved dog, it simply touched everyone. When his mother approached him, Rufus’ demeanor immediately changed.
He smelled Martinez’s outstretched hand and immediately started rolling on the ground. He snuggled into her arms, giving his mommy endless kisses. What a touching story.
