Lexi Ann couldn’t have had a worse start to the year, yet the brave dog managed to get through it all…
She lived with her family and with other animals as well. Then one day a tragic incident happened in their family and everything was torn apart.
Their whole house was on fire and the poor dog almost lost his life.
She managed to escape from there because the kennel where the dog was chained literally began to melt.
Although she survived, she unfortunately suffered severe burns all over her body.
As for the other pets, two cats, another dog, as well as Lexi’s puppies, were not so lucky and all perished in the fire.
However, based on her condition, her owners decided to euthanize the dog, which they explained by the fact that they did not have the means to take care of her.
It turns out that according to them, it was the most humane and convenient option for the poor dog…
Fortunately, one of the vets disagreed, suggesting to turn to Ruff Start instead, which takes care of rescued animals with various problems.
They took Lexi in with great love, giving him a second chance at life.
After that, the sweet dog was placed with a foster family who helped her heal her wounds.
They included horrific burns all over her body, but Ruff Start says despite all her pain, she still finds the strength to wag her tail and cheer others on all day.
Just like that, Lexie won the heart of a firefighter named Travis.
When she saw the dog, it seemed as if she felt an instant connection with her and knew she had to bring her home.
The family even drove 11 hours to adopt Lexi and introduce her to their other dog. That’s how Lexi became a permanent and most beloved member of their family.
There simply couldn’t be a more perfect match. Lexi and Travis became a real father and daughter.
Travis will soon be taking Lexi to a burn camp as well, where her recovery story will undoubtedly help others as well.
Lexi feels great just being with her family where they shower her with all the love they have.
