250 Amish men lift a barn by bare hand and take it across an Ohio farm to its new place

ART and NATURE

Although the Amish do not oppose all forms of technology or equipment, they are significantly more conservative and take their time adopting newer innovations.

The United States is home to approximately forty Amish associations. To manage and carry out their many responsibilities, those small, close-knit societies rely solely on men’s strength and effort.

In the early hours of March 2019, horse-drawn carriages carried Amish groups to Joseph Hochstetler’s Ohio property. They were only there for a single purpose:

In the middle of winter, move the pole barn entirely by hand from one side of the property to the other. As you can see, this is absolutely incredible! Who carries and holds when we have cutting-edge technology?

Around 250 men gathered around each of the building’s four corners and began lifting and walking the entire structure in one piece.

While the guys twisted and stretched the massive structure, these women watched and learned simultaneously.

Until the entire structure was securely moved to its new spot across the field, which was about 200 feet (60.96 meters) away.
