The mother will do everything to protect her children. Even that mother is a hyena caught on a hunting trip and the verge of death.
This hyena was walking along the Save River in Zimbabwe when it was caught in a trap set by poachers. In response to this trauma, she gave birth to three cubs on the spot.
He was still trapped in great pain, because the birth of a hyena is very painful. Many mothers do not even go through that process.
As she struggled for her life, her priority was to protect her cubs.
He dug a small hole in the dirt right next to him to keep them safe. This is the time when the African Wildlife Fund arrived after it was reported that there was an injured hyena in the area.
They calmed him down and moved in to find two kittens that had been spinning in the dirt for only a few days. Unfortunately, one cub had already passed before they arrived.
He was taken out of the trap and noticed that the wounds were not so deep. They gave him antibiotics and an intravenous injection to prevent dehydration. Here is one of the cubs.
When the pups were pushed towards their mother, they started sucking. Incredible.
Then the rescuers stood back and watched as this miracle unfolded. They said on their Facebook page.
“We quickly moved away from sight so as not to disturb the hyena when it woke up. We watched from a distance, we were happy to see the female on her feet, she was confessing to the cubs.
“What we saw yesterday was evidence of the endurance of wildlife.”
Later, when they returned, they noticed that the mother had moved to another lair to take her cubs with her. They all survived this almost fatal experience.
