Fortunately, the beautiful pony Heidi in this story does not reach this end. The little girl was found in the most terrible condition, which means that she was just saved in time.
The pony looked almost lifeless at a construction site in Durham, England. His body was breathing. This was the only sign that he was still alive.
When the rescuers of Here 4 Horses Equine Charity came here, they were horrified by the condition of the horse. This was one of the worst cases of neglect or cruelty they had ever seen.
They even met a snot man whom the owner called to collect Heidi’s body. That cruel owner rejected the fragile animal. The rescue team decided to act immediately. They thought that Heidi deserved this opportunity.
“The decision was made to give him a chance, it took five people to get him back on his feet,” said a spokesman for the charity Here 4 Horses Equine.
The rescuers brought Heidi with them and provided ambulance. The poor pony was seriously ill. He could not even stand on his own.
“The early days were touching because we were dealing with his severe weakness, with so low a protein in his blood that he needed a plasma transfusion,” said Wendy, a horse welfare and education specialist who started the charity.
