This aged twin sisters celebrate their 100th birthday and open up about their long lives together

TEST

Edith Antonecchi and Norma Matthews, the Centenarian twins, lived long lives. Additionally, they have shared every stage of their lives.

Norma stated to The Washington Post, “People love that we are still together.” Since the moment we were born, we have done everything together.

Through all of life’s ups and downs, the sisters have supported one another. Norma stated, “Edy was always there for me, and I was always there for her.”

Edy would be aware in some way whenever I got sick. She would either call me or rush over to make sure I was okay. It wasn’t always easy for the family, like every other family.

They would always overcome their sibling rivalries. “You can’t hear a penny jingle in your pocket. They jingle when you put two pennies in your pocket.

Their grandmother would always remind them of this. The sisters were raised by a single mother after being born in Revere, Massachusetts.

Edy stated, “We didn’t have it easy, but we had a lot of fun.” We made our own amusement. Edy worked as a nurse after high school, and Norma worked as a hairdresser.

Within three months, they tied the knot and lived together for 51 years. They were never more than a bus or train ride or two cities away.

Norma stated, “For the first time, we would be living apart.” As a result, we came to the conclusion that it was essential for us to always live in close proximity to one another.

“Norma wed Charles Matthews in 1943 on Valentine’s Day. They had three children, but one of them died when she was just 2 years old.

Three months after her sister got married, Edy got married to Leo “Chick” Antonecchi. One of Edy and Leo’s two sons passed away four years ago.

Charles, who had Alzheimer’s, followed Leo, who died in a car accident in 1994. Both of their husbands passed away within a few months of one another.

Following that, the sisters made the decision to move together to Florida.

They travel to the church, grocery store, and senior events thanks to the kindness of their friends and neighbors because they live in a mobile home park.

Margaret Shaffer, a neighbor, stated, “Norma is the chatty one, and Edy is quieter.” Norma is gone when you take them to a restaurant because she has to stand up and talk to everyone.

However, they both illuminate the room. The sisters claim to be related to twins.

If Norma were ill, Edy could feel it. Edy would answer the phone whenever Norma would consider making a phone call to her sister.

For St. Petersburg’s 100th birthday celebration in December 2021, approximately 50 people flew in. They resemble local celebrities in a way.

Norma stated to the Tampa Bay Times, “We couldn’t be without each other.” Edy stated, “We came together, and we go together.” Norma said, “I’d do anything for Edy.” She is everything to me.
