This is Jupiter a famous lion which became popular while livind at villa Lorena. Ana Julia looks after lots of different animals. One thing they all have in common, according to Ana Julia, is that they’ve all been abused.
“They’re lame, or they’ve lost limbs; they’re blind, or they have problems with focus, or they’ve lost their vision,” she explains.
I have more that 800 children — some clawed and some very hairy, but all of them marvelous,” Torres states. In that 800 her favourite one is Jupiter.
Jupiter was saved from the circus, where he was grossly abused and had his claws removed. It was very logical that Jupiter lost his trust towards people and even developed fear of them.
This phobia vanished after he was cared for by Anna Julia. However, the healthy lion was relocated to the zoo in Monteria. Jupiter was removed from Anna Julia’s care because of her alleged lack of documentation to keep the lion.
Unfortunately, the poor lion, lost weight and became very sick. And can you imagine a lion living after losing the half of its body.
So to avoid further difficulties the authorities decided that they should take Jupiter any place closer to Ana Julie. Jupiter lived in Columbia after being rescued from a life of circus oppression in which its claws were severed.
He was taken to the Cali Zoo for remedy, where vets worked endlessly to take good care of him. The vets diagnosed that he had terminal liver cancer and anemia. He had one final chance to see his beloved Ana Julia.
When Ana Julie saw her beloved lion Jupiter, she could not recognize him as he was so slim and weak.Unfortunately Jupiter lost the battle with liver cancer and passed away in 2020, but he will stay in our hearts forever.
