Laverne the Border Collie was one of 50 rescued dogs rescued from dirty living conditions on a barn in Canada, writes ilovemydogsomuch.
All the rescued dogs were physically ill and mentally disabled when they were taken to the Victoria Humanitarian Association. While most of the dogs gradually warmed up to rescuers, Lavern could not recover from the trauma.
She was shocked to learn that Lauren had fled her foster home with another Border Collie named Shirley.
The workers searched for the 2 holes for days, but there was no sign of the duo. Despite the disappointing lack of search results, the workers decided not to give up.
For more than two months, workers have been using thermal imaging technology to scan the desert for dogs.
They also used Bloodhounds to distribute leaflets to hundreds of missing dogs, but it was a collection of 5 cameras set up in the woods that finally allowed them to go back and catch the trapped dogs.
Workers are not surprised to see Lavern and Shirley become best friends in the wild during their 61-day survival test. They are still visibly petrified of people; they never left each other when they were saved.
Workers are now looking for different ways to rebuild this bonded couple to ensure they have a better life.
