It is known that elephants are one of the closest creatures to humans with emotions.
The video below, taken at Sri Lanka’s Kalavja Reserve, shows a herd of elephants gathering to pay their last respects to their dead leader.
In the video below, you can see elephants trying to hug a leader killed by their opponent with their trunks. Witnesses claimed to have seen about 300 elephants gathered to say goodbye to the dead.
A 2006 study by Oxford University found that elephants, unlike humans, mourn the death of their family or friends.
They also try to help the dead and the sick, hoping they can return safe and sound. How heartbreaking! Watch the video below.
