St. Louis street rescuers arrived at the scene to help the dog with a deep collar.
But the dog ran to an abandoned house, and his young friend was very protective of him. So they set a trap and went in.
The poor dog was in so much pain that he did not trust anyone, so he refused to go with the rescuers.
They eventually persuaded him to ride on a leash, and he returned to the animal hospital.
After removing the bullet from his neck, it was time to remove the collar. The shots are not for the faint of heart, but the end result is worth it.
