Thus, when Sharon Bertoz noticed a sick dog curled up on his balcony in California for four hours, he was heartbroken, but not very surprised, writes ilovemydogsomuch.
The surprise came later when he realized that this “dog” was not a dog at all.
She immediately called the town’s Folsom Animal Services for help with the baby. When the rescuers arrived, they looked more closely at the animal and discovered that it was indeed a young coyote with a terrible plague.
They brought the coyote back to their clinic, where he was being treated for severe dehydration.
They named her Princess and eventually transferred her to Gold Country Wildlife Rescue, where she will receive further treatment.
There he was given a medicated bath to help his irritated skin, and finally, he was forced to eat again. His recovery would have taken a long time, but rescuers refused to let him go.
When the princess recovered well, the rescue centre planned to leave her in the wild. As her hair grew back, she was steadily improving, she moved to the Sierra Wildlife Rescue, where she was able to interact with other coyotes.
Soon the Princess and her new coyote friends were released into the wild on 800 acres of open roaming land.
The princess has come a long way since knocking on the door of death. She is now a beautiful, healthy coyote.
