Therapy canines can be priceless partner for those who need. They not only give medical and emotional support, but they also make wonderful, faithful animals who are always with you, when you need them the most.

So, after 1 devoted service pup remained by his owner’s side through graduate school, the school decided that he deserves a huge praise.

Brittany from North Carolina, uses a wheelchair and has complicated regional pain syndrome. She was an ideal candidate for a service canine, and she received one a some years ago through the special program.

When they first met, she knew he was the one: “Some pups were scared of the wheelchair,” she mentioned. “Griffin jumped into my hands and started licking the side of my face.”

Griffin came to her life in time when she was going to face new challanges: that is earning her master’s degree in university.

The dog showed his worth by going to all of Brittany’s classes and supporting her with tasks such as opening doors and picking up supplies. He was also a comfort companion during times of sorrow.

“With him, I felt more free, more social, and more sociable,” Brittany stated. Brittany and Griffin excelled at Clarkson, and Brittany graduated in late 2018.

She was sure she wouldn’t have managed to do it all without his best companion around.. and she also knew she couldn’t party without him.

“We went to New York with each other, finished school with each other,” Brittany explained. She wanted him to have his own degree, not just be by her side. “I pushed from the beginning because I want Griffin to graduate with me.”

Unexpectidely, the university gave the permission, and Griffin was given the opportunity to walk to the stage and get his own honorary degree for helping her friend out in the best way he could.

“The Board of Trustees knew Griffin for his exceptional effort, steadfast devotion, and diligent love to his handler Brittany’s well-being and study success,” Clarkson stated.

“The 2 went on pursuing a master’s degree in Health Science purely together, attending all the lessons… completely allowing Griffin to be an equal member of Clarkson Golden Knights household.”

Brittany followed her desire of becoming an occupational therapist after graduation, having the hope to work with army personnel.
For sure, she’ll keep her loyal service canine by her side. “He’ll be with me every single day if I get a job,” Brittany mentioned. What a fitting tribute to this devoted service dog! He earned that degree for sure!!
