A father saved a young girl who had been sexually abused in Australia. He rushed toward the teenager after hearing her screams and subdued her attacker until the police arrived.
Scratch Kennon is a dad of six who lives in Melbourne, Australia. He was in a city park on Friday, February 10, when he heard a young girl crying, which alerted him. He found her immediately after hearing her voice.
“I thought it was great that young girls were playing in the park; however, when they started acting strangely, I thought something was wrong. My sense kicked in and I went to see.
He stated, “When I saw what was happening, I had to stop it and ran to the other side of the lake.”
Around 7 p.m., an 18-year-old woman was in the park when a 21-year-old man attacked her, grabbed her by the throat, and took off her underwear.
Nick Kennon was the only one who was able to control the attacker and hold him for more than five minutes until the police arrived.
He was attempting to flee, but I wanted to ensure that he did not. Nick Kennon stated, “I wanted him to be held accountable for his actions.”
The 18-year-old girl is safe and sound because of her brave father. She was examined by paramedics, and she was not transported to a hospital because she did not suffer any physical injuries.
Nick Kennon’s bravery has not gone unnoticed, as he has struggled to fall asleep since the incident that left the scene.
I still can’t get rid of the screams that keep coming into my head. I’m glad I went through with it. He stated, “I haven’t been able to sleep well yet; it still worries me quite a bit.”
Nick Kennon said that he was just doing the right thing in this situation and wasn’t a hero.
The perpetrator was detained by the authorities and charged with sexual assault, attempted rape, and unlawful assault. He was taken in by police.
