Carla Swindle, owner of S&K Quarter Horses in Fayette, Alabama, recently had to go through a heartbreaking moment when one of her horses died just days after the birth of a baby named Thai.

Her mother fell ill a few days after giving birth and despite treatment, she quickly fell down.

She crossed the rainbow and left the poor foal behind. The orphan foal had to live without his mother’s love and care when he was only nine days old. Swindley faced the challenge of raising an orphaned foal.

But that same night he made an unexpected friend.

Fortunately, her rescue dog named Zip, has taken on the role of a father and a protector of Tye.

“Zip has never shown interest in other horses or their foals. We raise foals every year, he kind of looked at the door, he just looked at them, ”says Carla Svindl.

But that fateful night, the dog knew something was wrong, so he changed his mind, appeared, and comforted Thai.

Zip insisted on befriending the newborn horse, comforting the little animal with his presence. The next morning, Thai lost his mother, but she was not alone. “I spent the night in the barn taking care of my mother’s horse, hoping I could pull her in,” Svindl said.

“Zip stayed with me all night in the alley of the barn, the foal was lying in the alley, and he lay there next to the foal.”
Zip became a fatherand He did not leave Thai out of his sight.

When Zip was near, Thai was calm and happy. “It seemed to me that the foal knew the dog was trying to help him,” Svindl said. “It’s so sweet.” He even comforted the little animal and never let it sleep alone.

Thai seemed calm and happy with Zip. Each time Swindle went to feed the foal, Zip came in first to greet the little horse.

“Every time I went up to the barn, Zip ran to the barn, stood in front of the kiosk, and waited for me to get there,” Svindl said. “Every time he beat me in the barn.”

Watch the video, the foal was lucky to have a real friend in some difficult times.
